You'll never look at tuna as just a sandwich solution ever again!
Incredibly simple and easy dish to make that is absolutely delicious.
Prep time- 10 min, Cooking time- 20 min, Satisfies -4 people
1 box of pasta
1 whole head of a medium sized garlic, peeled and sliced into slivers
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 170g cans of tuna (in water), drained.
The juice of 1 lemon
Salt and pepper
Grated parmesan or pecorino-romano cheese
A few side notes:
- Don’t be afraid of the garlic! Garlic is your friend. Always.
- Don't be afraid of the oil either! You’d be amazed how much oil the tuna will soak up!
- You might need one more lemon if you see the one you got isn’t very juicy.
- Save the tuna water for the kitty, if applicable! He’ll love you for it!
- Any variety of pasta works, just pick your favorite!
“Now, the last ingredient is some good background music to set the mood and let’s get cookin’!”
1.
Get a pot of water going for your pasta (add your pasta of choice once water is boiling). Heat the olive oil in a medium sized pan on low-med heat.
2.
Once oil is warm, add the garlic. Reduce heat to low. Garlic can burn very fast if the heat is too high so make sure the garlic is cooking slowly and steadily. A slight golden tint to the garlic is desirable but anything more and you’ll end up with a bitter flavor.
3.
Stir garlic frequently to ensure proper and even cooking. Once garlic has gotten a small tint of color, add the drained tuna.
4.
Mix in the tuna with the garlic. Cook in low for another 2 minutes or so, until the tuna is warm and add the lemon juice and stir. Let the sauce cook for another 4-5 minutes. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
5.
Once your pasta is ready and drained, place on plate with the tuna sauce on top and serve! Sprinkle as much grated cheese as desired.
6.
Devour.
**Mushrooms are also a fantastic addition to this recipe. If mushrooms are your thing, then go crazy!
